Do not assume a universal count. Pocket support, clamp position, chipbreaker orientation, damaged zones, and the cutter maker's indexing marks determine usable positions.
Why does an RPMT insert create different cusp heights at the same feed?
Cutter diameter, effective radius, lead geometry, radial stepover, axial depth, tilt, runout, and toolpath direction all affect the resulting cusp.
What indicates that the RPMT grade is too brittle?
Repeated microchipping, edge fracture at entry or exit, thermal cracking, or sudden failure before normal flank wear suggests reviewing toughness and cutting conditions.
