TNMG can offer different profile access and size choices, while WNMG generally provides a broader trigon body; compare holder geometry, corner strength, accessibility, and cost per usable edge.
Why do some TNMG sizes have different thickness codes?
The third and fourth designation positions encode thickness using the ISO system; inserts with the same general shape are not interchangeable unless seat, thickness, hole, and clamp all match.
Can all six TNMG corners be used in one holder?
Both faces may be indexable, but actual corner access depends on chipbreaker handedness, holder design, damage to unused edges, and the operation direction.
What limits TNMG use in heavy interrupted cuts?
The 60° corner has less included carbide than stronger square or 80° forms, so interruption severity, edge hone, grade toughness, feed, and tool support must be reviewed.
What should be supplied for a TNMG equivalency request?
